FAQ

Questions our customers
actually ask.

Pricing, services, licensing, packing, scheduling. The questions we hear most before someone books, answered honestly.

How much does it cost to move an average 3-bedroom home locally?
Reliable Movers offers all-inclusive flat-rate pricing. The average three-bedroom home fills a 26-foot truck and runs around $2,500 all-inclusive. That price covers the truck, labor, fuel, furniture pads, shrink wrap, basic disassembly and reassembly, and basic released-value insurance. Crews typically range from 2 to 7 movers depending on the home.
Does Reliable Movers offer packing services?
Yes. Professional packing is available at $28 per box, all-inclusive (box, materials, and labor). A typical full pack on a three-bedroom home runs 70 to 90 boxes. Partial packing focused on the kitchen, china cabinet, and breakables typically runs 20 to 30 boxes.
Can Reliable Movers move large or bulky items like pianos, gun safes, and hot tubs?
Yes. We have specialized equipment and trained crews for pianos (uprights, baby grands, and concert grands), gun safes up to 2,000+ pounds, hot tubs and spas, commercial equipment, and oversized antique furniture.
Does Reliable Movers offer storage solutions?
Yes. We offer climate-controlled storage for both short-term and long-term needs. Common use cases include bridging a gap between closing dates, restoration work, and seasonal storage for lake homes.
Why is flat rate better than hourly pricing?
Hourly pricing creates uncertainty. A 5-hour estimate can easily turn into 10 hours with inexperienced crews, and the company has no incentive to work efficiently. Flat-rate pricing locks your cost at quote time. You know exactly what you will pay before move day, and the price does not change because the day ran long.
Do you offer interstate moving from New York?
Yes. We provide interstate moving from Central New York to destinations across the East Coast, Northeast, and Midwest. Common destinations include North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, and beyond. Every interstate move is handled by our own full-time crews. No brokers, no subcontractors.
Is your interstate pricing flat rate or based on weight?
Flat rate, all-inclusive. We do not charge by weight. Your quote includes the truck, labor, fuel, tolls, furniture protection, and basic insurance. No weight-bumping at the scale, no surprise charges on delivery day.
Are you licensed for interstate moving?
Yes. Reliable Movers is fully licensed and insured for interstate household goods transport. USDOT 1605981, MC 837987, NYSDOT 36291. Cargo insurance and liability coverage are in place and certificates are available on request.
Do you offer packing for interstate moves?
Yes. Full and partial packing is available for interstate moves, including fragile-only packing for kitchens, glassware, and breakables. Packing is priced separately at $28 per box.
How are you different from a moving broker?
A broker takes your deposit and sells your job to whichever carrier they can find. You may never meet your actual mover until move day. Reliable Movers is the carrier. Our trucks, our drivers, our crews, our equipment, from quote to delivery.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Syracuse and all of Central New York including Fayetteville, Manlius, Cicero, Camillus, Liverpool, Baldwinsville, Cazenovia, Skaneateles, Auburn, Cortland, Ithaca, Oswego, Fulton, and beyond. For interstate moves, we cover the East Coast, Northeast, and Midwest.
How far in advance should I book?
Peak moving season (May through September) books fast. We recommend reaching out 4 to 6 weeks before your move date when possible. We do hold capacity for last-minute and emergency moves, so call regardless of timing.
